Msc of Science Dissertation - Distinction
May 2024 - September 2024
This first part of the research aims to identify the key factors influencing the location selection of creative major programs and their implications for program delivery and benefits. While much attention has been given to film-destination tourism and its impact on local economies, little research has focused on how locations for creative major programs (e.g., film, TV, streaming, and other arts and multimedia) are initially chosen. Given that these programs generate significant revenue and can have extensive socioeconomic impacts, understanding their location selection is a necessary but understudied topic. Additionally, the role of local communities in these decisions and the metrics and parameters associated with site selection are equally critical.
Independent research
2025- current
In the second part of the research the focus will be quantitatively determining how the local impact of the creative major programs can be calculated. And explore the proposed net value of the production versus incentives view.
